DeWand has served in the education arena for over 20 years. She has experience in educating students aged birth to career in both non-traditional education environments and classroom settings.
Previously, she has worked as a Parent-Student-Teacher Liaison for the Imani Institute Public Charter School in Greensboro, NC; Program Manager for Gifted Minds Academic Programming of Greensboro and Curriculum Support for S.C.A.T 6th- 8th grade Math and Technology Center and worked with before school-aged youth at Primary Beginnings Childcare Centers.
DeWand attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and is certified in Early Childhood Education She has received an advanced studies certificate from Arcadia University of Philadelphia in Youth Development. DeWand is also Triple P (Parenting) Certified, and has been nationally certified and recognized as a site coordinator by the national office of Communities in Schools. DeWand has been with CIS Wake for 12 years and currently serves as the Senior Director of School Programs. DeWand specializes in developing and launching programs from the ground up. In DeWand’s tenure with CIS Wake several programs were launched under her led including CIS Wake’s current Success Coach Program. The most important role in her post is to partner with the school administration teams and Success Coaches to meet school-wide and student goals.
DeWand and her husband Derek, have businesses in the personal care services industry and are proud parents of Jordan, Donovin, and Laundyn.
Fun Fact: DeWand turned her love of shopping into the role of a personal stylist. She also writes children and teen genre books, with her first series to be published in 2020! If she has a book signing what will she choose to wear and will her books be a page-turner??
