The C.H.A.M.P.S. (Communities Helping Academically Motivate and Prepare Students) engagement program seeks to build a community of support that our students need to maximize their potential. C.H.A.M.P.S. are members of the community who invest their time, talent, and treasures to remove the barriers that put our students at risk of wasting their potential.
Maximize your area of academic talent (math, reading, science, etc) to tutor a student or small group of students and help them achieve academic progress and success!
Meet with a student during breakfast, lunch, or after school and provide an opportunity for them to connect with an additional caring adult to set and achieve goals.
Inspire, Motive, and Go Educate Students speakers provide engaging, interactive presentations about their careers and life accomplishments to bridge exposure and experience gaps.
Independently or gather members of your workplace, organizations, or faith-based communities, to participate in a one-time opportunity or various seasonal opportunities including, but not limited to CIS Wake community events, school supply drives, assisting with school beautification, small group read alouds, hosting a nutritious snack drive, etc.
Seek a role on an action committee such as Program or Resource Development to provide fresh thought partnership to propel the mission of the organization.
Connect our mission to your network. Sample activities include following us on social media, participating in annual events and internship/job shadowing opportunities for CIS Wake students.
We value the safety of our students, staff, and volunteers. In keeping with best practices for working with children and youths, our organization requires volunteers to agree to a background check and participate in a 1.5-hour virtual volunteer orientation session. If you are a group of five or more volunteers, we also offer an in-person option for the orientation at your location, if desired. For questions or more information on becoming a volunteer, please contact CIS Wake at info@ciswake.org.
