Communities In Schools of Wake County values and appreciates your trust, and we are committed to respecting your privacy and the security of your personal information. Our privacy policy, updated on November 3, 2014, describes the information we collect and how we use it.

CIS Wake Privacy Policy

CIS Wake takes your privacy seriously and will take all measures to protect your personal information. Any personal information received will only be used to register your student for CIS Wake/SMART Academy programs. We will not sell or redistribute your information to anyone.

CIS Wake Refund Policy

CIS Wake Participants may cancel registration for a program session for any reason and will receive a credit, less the registration fee, under these conditions: the request for credit must be completed 48 hours before the start date of the program (classes); no credits will be given if the participant cancels less than 48 hours prior to the start date of the session. Camp payments are transferable between enrolled siblings only.

If CIS Wake/SMART Academy cancels a program, participants have the choice of a full refund or credit, less the registration fee. CIS Wake/SMART Academy may postpone or cancel programs/classes due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances such as evacuation and natural disaster. Classed cancelled due to such will not be issued a refund. All policies, fees, classes/programs and hours are subject to change without notice.

CIS Wake Returned check/Bank draft Policy

Returned items are subject to a $37.50 processing fee. All policies and fees are subject to change without notice.

Information We Collect

We collect information from you in order to complete your donation online, including name, address, telephone number, email address, transaction information, and credit card information. Please note that account numbers and other credit card details are securely collected only for the duration of the payment transaction and will not be permanently retained. We maintain the data that you provide us (other than credit card details), along with a record of your donations, in a secure database.

Using Information We Collect

We contract with other companies to provide certain services, including name and address verification and payment processing. We provide these companies with only the information they need to perform their services and work closely with them to ensure that your privacy is respected and protected. These companies are prohibited by contract from using this information for their own marketing purposes or from sharing this information with anyone other than Communities In Schools of Wake County. We will not otherwise sell or share your information with third-party vendors or service providers.


It is our intent to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected from you. We limit the information we provide to outside companies with whom we contract to only what they need to carry out their responsibilities.

It is our practice to use encryption whenever we receive or transmit sensitive data. When you make a donation or login to your account on our website, your transactional information is transmitted in a safe, encrypted format.
