Lisa Berwyn
Lisa has been working in the Raleigh market for 36 years, most of those in the non profit
sector. She enthusiastically joined Communities In Schools of Wake after serving a number
of years in the Office of the Governor (North Carolina Business Committee for Education).
Earlier in her career, she was the Director of Government Relations for the American Cancer
Society where she wrote health policy and lobbied both the NC General Assembly and the US
Congress. Prior to that, worked in television news for WRAL-TV and WPTF-TV.
A nonprofit professional driven by compassion, Lisa enjoys “connecting the dots” and building
relationships between CIS Wake and the community. She loves Raleigh and has been here
since graduating from UNC-CH in 1984.
Lisa lives in old north Raleigh (that many now call Midtown) with her husband Dennis. She
has a daughter (Jordan), four sons (Andy, Patrick, Peter, and Alex), and their families. Lisa
has two granddaughters, Aria and Juniper.
Fun Fact: A Tar Heel native, Lisa was born in Smithfield and grew up in Taiwan, China and in Frankfurt,
Germany.
