Art Engagement is essential to the human experience and Alexander Percy brought that mentality with him to his career with Communities In Schools of Wake County.
Alexander joined the organization in 2016 as an After School Lead Teacher and by 2017 began his path as a Success Coach at East Millbrook Middle School. Alexander earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Art History from the University of Puerto Rico in 2000. Alexander incorporates the arts as a tool in his Social Emotional Learning sessions with his students to develop a better understanding of the Five Core Competencies. As a Success Coach, Alexander focuses on establishing and maintaining relationships with his students to support their academic growth and success. His teaching and coaching skills are used to provide an environment for students to freely express their needs and concerns while accessing the academic support they need to become 21st-century thinkers poised to make a difference in their community.
Alex is the proud parent of his daughter Naya.
Fun Fact: Alex’s work hangs in galleries in North Carolina, on outside structures in New York, outside of East Millbrook Middle School and featured in art magazines!!
