Communities In Schools of Wake County March Madness Drive
04/06/2009
Fund Raising Drive to support academic and life skills support for economically at risk students attending Wake County Public schools.
Twelve of every 100 students in Wake County public schools is at high risk of dropping or failing out. Academic support provided to economically at risk children and youth by Communities In Schools of Wake County can make a difference in keeping a child engaged and excelling in and out of the classroom.
Communities In Schools is recognized as one of the best drop out prevention programs in the nation. In Wake County, CIS Wake works in the classroom as well as in after school learning centers, often just steps away from the child’s home- serving as a bridge between the school and home. CIS Wake provides important resources to students that can help them dream of great things and take the important steps in school toward achieving their goals. From a bag of brand new school supplies to a field trip to a local college campus, CIS Wake educators and volunteers are helping at risk students find a purpose in their education.
Communities In Schools of Wake County champions the needs of at-risk students; helping them stay in school by connecting them with needed community resources, volunteers, and educational opportunities. CIS Wake operates after-school learning centers located in Raleigh Public Housing communities and school sites within the Wake County Public School System. The organization works with approximately 800 students and nearly 400 community volunteers every year. Please Donate>>
